Trip Summary10 Nights April 11-21, 2026 |
The wine country area of Chile is beautiful! Join us as we cycle through the wine country region of Chile in April 2026. We begin this 10 night trip in Santiago. After a short transport, we will ride through amazing countryside, visiting lovely wineries and riding along quiet roads. We will also experience the local culture and ride along the Pacific coastline. Along the way, we will stay at small hotels and inns.
The tour includes transportation to and from the wine country, routes, all breakfasts and many lunches and dinners. We will have support vehicles and local guides. You will have the ability to shorten rides. The roads are predominantly paved, many with a large shoulder or bike lane. Expect warm weather with highs in the 80s each day. Be prepared for a wide range of temperatures, though. It will likely be cooler the further south that we go. In addition, be prepared for some rainy days. Ride distances range from 25 to 60 miles with hills. Expect to ride up to 350 miles over 9 days of riding. This is a strenuous tour. Also note that we will be changing hotels nearly every day.
Points of interest include beautiful scenery, wineries and local culture.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1 | We start the tour at a hotel in Santiago. We encourage you to come in a few days early to explore the city of Santiago and also the nearby Valparaiso city along the coast.
We will meet at the Eco Boutique Hotel Bidasoa and enjoy our first group dinner. |
Day 2 | After a short transport, we will enjoy our first ride through the Chilean wine country. We will stop at the Casa Silva Winery and end the ride at the incredible Vik Chile Hotel – also a winery. The hotel is located atop a hill on an 11,000 acre property, with panoramic views of the valley and nature preserve. We will enjoy a picnic lunch and a group dinner at the hotel. |
Day 3 |
Today’s ride takes us along quiet roads riding along watermills that are protected by UNESCO. We end the day at the Vina de la Playa, a resort set at a winery and spa. We will enjoy lunch on the route and a group dinner. |
Day 4 | We continue south to the town of Santa Cruz. Along the way we will stop at the Hacienda El Huique, an estate and museum highlighting the economic and colonial history of Chile. We will spend two nights in Santa Cruz. We will enjoy a group dinner. |
Day 5 | You can take the day off of riding today, or ride a beautiful loop ride through the Apalta Valley. The Apalta Valley is known for its production of Syrah and Carmenère wines. Dinner is on your own tonight in one of the many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. |
Day 6 | We leave Santa Cruz enroute to Marchigüe. We will stop along the way at Lolol Village and tour it’s local craft market. We end the day at the relaxing Hacienda Histórica Marchigüe. We will enjoy a group lunch on the route and a group dinner at the hotel. |
Day 7 | Today’s ride takes us along the coastline to the town of Pichilemu where we will spend two nights. Pichilemu is a beach resort town and is five of the National Monuments of Chile. (There are about 1000 places in Chile that are protected as National Monuments.) In Pichilemu, these include the old wooden railway station, El Arbol tunnel and the old town area. We will have lunch on the route and a group dinner. |
Day 8 | We stay two nights in Pichilemu, so we have time to relax and take a day off the bike. We also offer routes for those wanting to ride. Dinner is on your own tonight in one of the many restaurants in the area. |
Day 9 | Today’s ride we leave the ocean and head inland to Vichuquen. We will enjoy a group lunch on the ride and dinner at the Hotel Marina de Vichuquen. The hotel, while inland, is located on a lovely lake. We will have lunch on the route and a group dinner. |
Day 10 | Our last day of riding takes us to Constitución. Today’s ride is a long one, but mostly flat or downhill. We end right on the water. We will enjoy a lunch along the ride and our final dinner at the hotel. Walk along the beach after dinner to get an incredible sunset over the Pacific! |
Day 11 | After breakfast, we will head back to Santiago where you can continue on your adventure or head back home. |
Note that this is a very hilly tour! However, we will provide van support to shorten rides. As with most of our tours, we limit the size of the tour to a maximum of ten couples. Please click below if you are interested in this tour and we will alert you when the tour opens.
